Ivory Coast
Wood, feathers, pigments, rope, resin, earth, fiber, horn
Height : 77 cm
Oblong mask built around an assembly of geometric volumes, balanced on a flat panel. The sharp edge of the long nose divides the composition into two parts between four pairs of tubular eyes whose edges are enhanced with red, white and blue pigments. Two square protuberances incised with a checkerboard are at the level of the mouth underlined by a beard of animal fibers. The mask is topped with a thick semicircular plate in which are planted feathers and a thick wooden fork. A horn adorns the middle of the forehead which is highlighted with blue.
