BANKSY (1974), based on - Lot 529

BANKSY (1974), based on Wrong war - Bomb Hugger Red and black spray paint and stencil on cardboard. Bears a "Don't Attack Iraq" and "Stop the war" sticker on the front. 86 x 53 cm *Sold by designation (available for viewing after the sale). N.B.: This is one of Banksy's most iconic images. Banksy created several placards for the 2003 London anti-Iraq war protest, but few originals have survived, as they were thrown into the street or confiscated by the Metropolitan Police. There's no way of knowing, but very few of them were made for the original demonstrations. The Studio distributed the boxes to friends of the artist who were taking part in the anti-war march in 2003, in order to create a viral presence at the demonstration."
