Claude SCHÜRR (1921 - 2014) "Ostende" - Large oil on canvas Annotated on the back on the stretcher: "Ostende Belgique". Bears a paper label with the number "552". 50 x 65 cm (Canvas in perfect condition except for the mark of the original frame at the bottom right of the painting) *Sold by designation N.B.: Claude Schürr was born in Paris in 1921 and died in Cannes in 2014. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1938 to 1942, and taught at the Académie Ranson and the École des Arts et Métiers in Paris. He exhibited at various Paris salons, including Salon d'Automne, Salon des Indépendants, Salon des Tuileries and Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. In 1948, he won the Prix Antral and in 1950 the Grand Prix National des Arts. This picture of the port of Ostend in Belgium was probably painted in the 1950s.
