Alberto VANTUR alias César VENTURA (1880-1963) - Lot 525
Alberto VANTUR alias César VENTURA (1880-1963)
The Alberto - 1948
Linocut on paper. Autograph of the artist on the back
47 x 32 (Original median fold)
NB: Has on the back an important autograph inscription of A. Vantur specifying that this poster was executed entirely by him in 1948, with five plates engraved on linoleum (flesh colors, yellow, brown, green and red) then printed by himself on a machine in white of M. Albanesi, rue Ségurane in Nice. A. Vantur was a complete artist. He successfully practiced all the genres: teller, fantasist, singer with voice, comic troupier, express caricaturist, circus clown, prestidigitator, illusionist, ventriloquist. Master printer of his trade, he was, in 1942, one of the founders of the Amicale des magiciens niçois " Robert Houdin " for the representations of which he realized all the posters and the programs. He also printed the 9 issues of the magazine Diabolicus which was published by this association in 1948. It is likely that "Les Alberto" was a ventriloquist act during which Alberto Vantur, disguised as an august clown, discussed with a life-size mannequin representing a white clown.
