This emblem presents two brass figures joined by a chain attached by a ring to the top of the head. The female figure holds her breasts to emphasize her maternal function, while the male figure has his hands brought to his abdomen. They both wear a large beard. The edan was worn around the neck publicly as part of Ogboni / Osugbo society.
