Sepik style male statue, Papua New Guinea - Lot 19
Sepik style male statue, Papua New Guinea
Wood
H : 29,5 cm
Description:
Zoomorphic figure, the dynamism of the semi-bent legs on which rest the two hands (disproportionately large arms juxtaposed to the bust) is opposed to the immobility of the face magnified by a long beak descending to the center of the belly.
The length and shape of the beak are accentuated by a vertical ventral median ridge in slight relief. Thick and crusty patina.
