Couple of Lobi style, - Lot 17
Couple of Lobi style,
Burkina Faso
Wood
H: 49 cm
Linked, face to face couple appearing as if in weightlessness, as if the figures were seated, keeping each other in balance by the superposition of the strength of their legs, and of their reciprocal arms embracing each other both behind the back and the nape of the neck of one and the other. Elongated ogival skulls, with small ridges at the back of the neck, topped by cap-shaped headdresses engraved with scarifications. Straight nose, filled cheekbones and cheeks, closed eyes. The perimeter of the umbilicus subtly decorated with scarifications. Beautiful couple.
