Baule style mask - Lot 347
Baule style mask
Ivory Coast
Wood
Height : 30 cm
The face is characteristic: a cordial arch of the eyebrows sheltering two eyes with a slit palpebral, a half-open mouth that is tight and carried forward with scarified corners. Ngole signs are found on the temples and in the center of the forehead. Oval keloids punctuate the bulging forehead, and round keloids adorn the cheeks. The hairstyle is composed of four small striated and ruffled shells.
