Pende style mask - Lot 290
Pende style mask
Democratic Republic of Congo
Wood
Height : 28 cm
This mask presents a face with very expressive features. The slightly rounded forehead surmounts two swollen slit eyes, enhanced by well-defined eyebrows. The straight nose, sculpted horizontally, is pierced by two pairs of nostrils. The prognathic mouth is sculpted in the manner of an orifice and blends into the wide, jagged crop.
