Luba style seat - Lot 267
Luba style seat
Democratic Republic of Congo
Wood
Height : 21,5 cm
This caryatid seat has scarifications in high relief in the foreground that merge with highly stylized and exaggerated anatomical details such as the umbilicus. The typical openwork hairstyle with four braids is particularly remarkable in terms of depth. The face develops, under a wide and rounded forehead, open almond-shaped eyes, with arched eyebrows. The refined nose, the mouth with hemmed lips and the curvilinear pavilion of the ears, punctuate the face.
