Senoufo style mask - Lot 236
Senoufo style mask
Ivory Coast
Wood
Imposing polychrome mask representing a hybrid
hybrid creature composed of a set of hostile animal attributes: the strong jaws with pointed teeth recall the mouth of a crocodile or hyena, the dagger-like tusks are reminiscent of warthog canines, and the large horns that extend backwards echo those of the
horns which leave towards the back make echo those of the
antelopes.
