Gouro style mask - Lot 98
Gouro style mask
Ivory Coast
Wood
H : 40 cm
This double zamble and gu mask represents, side by side, a human face and a zoomorphic figure. The left side, zambled, has a convex face, with finely modeled features. It combines suppleness of form and firmness of line. These lines converge towards the curved shape of the snout, accentuating the effect produced by the jaw projected into space, wide open on the powerful fangs of the crocodile.
